A rare and refined poppy variety from the agricultural heartland of India—Uttar Pradesh—known for its long-standing, government-regulated cultivation of Papaver somniferum. These plants produce striking white blooms, with tall stalks and occasional double-petaled flowers that make them a standout in any grower’s field.

Uttar Pradesh is one of just three regions in India legally allowed to grow poppy under strict state oversight. The region is home to the Ghazipur Opium Factory, the world’s largest legal opium production & seed production for the entire country’s food supply facility, established in 1820 and still operating under government regulation today. This seed is Heritage Poppy being cultivated for hundred’s of years for food in India and is not GMO.  Seeds from this region are traditionally harvested for both culinary and medicinal uses, though this offering is strictly intended for ornamental purposes only.
